A small selection below of what’s on in Oxfordshire this September 2025:

Period Drama

Oxford Playhouse, Beaumont Street, Oxford

Period Drama
Period Drama

Step into the surreal with Period Drama, a bold and darkly comic exploration of mental health, identity and recovery, written and performed by Olga Kaleta. This episodic, autobiographical piece weaves together personal experience, feminist insight and a splash of slasher-movie absurdity. With themes of chronic anxiety, selfhood and societal expectations, it invites audiences to question what “wellness” really means in a world where fear feels normal.

Fusing raw storytelling with physical theatre and integrated BSL interpretation by Sherrie Eugene Hart, Period Drama is both thought-provoking and hilariously offbeat. Expect bloody knickers, insect existentialism, and candid reflections on sexuality and mental health. Powerful, poignant, and packed with laugh-out-loud moments, this is theatre that doesn’t shy away from the messiness of being human.

Please note: this performance contains strong language and frank discussion of sensitive topics.
