General Medical Emergency Ward 10

Sunday 08 March 2025
The Mill Arts Centre Spiceball Park Road, Banbury , OX16 5QE

Fans of medical dramas will find plenty to laugh about when General Medical Emergency Ward 10 comes to The Mill Arts Centre, Banbury, on Sunday 8 March 2025. This new comedy from award-winning Dyad Productions and Company Gavin Robertson gleefully sends up every hospital show cliché you can think of, from earnest junior doctors to impossible workloads and wildly tangled love lives. It is Dr Ann Fleming’s first day at St David’s, where her unfortunately named mentor, Dr Death, is keen to assert his authority. As crises mount, she finds herself juggling chaotic emergencies, a budding romance, a troublesome kidney and an over-involved hospital boss – though not all at the same time, thankfully.

Drawing affectionate inspiration from the likes of Holby City, Casualty, ER and Doctors, the show reimagines decades of small- and big-screen hospital plotlines as a fast-paced comic homage. Performed by Rebecca Vaughan, Andrew Margerison and Gavin Robertson, it promises sharp performances, rapid-fire gags and a knowing wink to anyone who has ever been hooked on a medical drama. With rave reviews for both Dyad Productions and Gavin Robertson’s previous work, General Medical Emergency Ward 10 is a riotous prescription for an evening of pure escapism – to be taken once a day (or twice if there is a matinee).

10cc

Monday 16 March 2026

As Gouldman jokes, the tour title is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact they are “out doing it again” and fans know exactly what that means: hit after hit, played with style, warmth and a few surprises along the way.

Education, Education, Education

Friday 20 and Saturday 21 March 2026
Oxford Playhouse, Beaumont Street, Oxford, OX1 2LW

Oxford Playhouse Young Company takes audiences back to the late 1990s with Education, Education, Education on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 March 2026. A sharply observed, affectionate comedy about school life in the age of Britpop and Blair. It is Friday 2 May 1997: New Labour has just swept to power, “Things Can Only Get Better” is blaring from radios, Geri Halliwell’s Union Jack dress is still the talk of the tabloids and Katrina and the Waves are about to storm Eurovision. A fresh wave of optimism seems to be rolling across the country.

Inside Wordsworth Comprehensive, however, reality looks rather different. Muck-up day has pushed Year 10 to the brink of chaos, confiscated Tamagotchis are chirping from teachers’ drawers, and the school is still waiting for its promised Acorn computers. As staff and pupils muddle through, the play – written by The Wardrobe Ensemble and directed by Paul Simpson offers a nostalgic, very funny and surprisingly touching look at what “education, education, education” actually felt like on the ground in a rundown comprehensive at a time when everything was supposed to be changing.

The true story of the Post Office scandal

Tuesday 24 March 2026
The Kenton Theatre, 19 New Street, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, RG9 2BS

On Tuesday 24 March 2026, The Kenton Theatre in Henley-on-Thames hosts Glitch. The true story of the Post Office scandal, a powerful dramatisation of one of the most shocking miscarriages of justice in recent British history. At its heart is Pam Stubbs, a much-loved sub-postmistress who has run Barkham Post Office for more than twenty years. When sudden, unexplained shortfalls begin appearing in her accounts, Pam’s life is turned upside down as she – like hundreds of others finds herself blamed for faults that lie elsewhere.

Created by RABBLE Theatre in close collaboration with sub-postmasters, legal professionals and the University of Reading, Glitch is an honest, moving and meticulously researched piece of theatre that gives voice to those whose lives were devastated by the scandal. With glowing reviews and heartfelt praise from those directly affected, including wrongly imprisoned sub-postmistress Seema Misra, this is an evening that is as informative as it is emotional and an important reminder of the human cost behind the headlines.

If you enjoy comedy that is honest, energetic and just a little bit chaotic, Older Than Jesus is a must-see tour date.

Oasiz

Friday 27 March 2026
Fat Lil’s, 64 Corn Street, Witney, OX28 6BS

Fans of Oasis can relive the swagger and anthems of the ’90s when Oasiz take to the stage at Fat Lil’s in Witney on Friday 27 March 2026. Widely regarded as one of the most convincing Oasis tributes in the UK, the band made headlines in 2023 when a short clip of frontman Steve performing as Liam went viral, racking up over half a million views. So many viewers were convinced they were watching the real Liam Gallagher that the story was picked up by the national press and led to a high-profile TV appearance later that year.

Now Oasiz are back on the road for their 2026 UK tour, and this is your chance to catch them on top form in an intimate venue. Expect a set packed with era-defining hits and singalong favourites – the kind of “greatest hits” night that spans Oasis’s career, from early classics to later anthems. If you missed them first time round, or simply want to experience those songs live again, this will be a loud, nostalgic and very satisfying night out.

The Bootleg Shadows

Sunday 29 March 2025
The Theatre Chipping Norton, 2 Spring Street, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, OX7 5NL

Fans of classic instrumental pop can revel in the unmistakable sound of the 1960s when The Bootleg Shadows come to The Theatre Chipping Norton on Sunday 29 March 2025. Inspired by the legendary group whose 1960 hit Apache sparked a generation of would-be guitar heroes, The Bootleg Shadows recreate the immaculate look, tight choreography and clean, melodic tones that made Hank Marvin and co. such a phenomenon. With the original Shadows now rarely performing live, this accomplished tribute band keeps that distinctive “live” sound alive on stage.

Across the evening, Geoff, Keith, Tony, Tim and Binks guide the audience through the Shadows’ remarkable career from the early 1960s to the 1980s, mixing spot-on renditions of the hits with light-hearted stories and humour. Expect to hear favourites such as Foot Tapper, Man of Mystery, Atlantis, Wonderful Land, Kon Tiki, FBI and even Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, among many more. It is a warm, nostalgic night out for anyone who loves the music of the 60s – and you may well find yourself humming the tunes and attempting the famous Shadows “walk” all the way home.

Operation Mincemeat

Tuesday 31 March 2026 to Saturday 04 April 2026
New Theatre Oxford, 24-26 George St, Oxford, OX1 2AG

One of the most talked-about new musicals of recent years marches into Oxford as Operation Mincemeat lands at New Theatre Oxford from Tuesday 31 March to Saturday 4 April 2026. Winner of the 2024 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and now also a Tony Award-winning hit on Broadway, this ingenious show has become a phenomenon, racking up more five-star reviews than any other production in West End history.

Set in 1943, with the Allies on the back foot, the story follows an audacious real-life plot: to use a stolen corpse, a bundle of fabricated documents and an elaborate web of lies to deceive Hitler and change the course of the war. Described as Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train, Operation Mincemeat is fast-paced, sharply funny and almost too outrageous to believe – except that it actually happened. Packed with clever songs, quick-fire humour and a gloriously offbeat take on wartime espionage, it is a thrilling, surprising and hugely entertaining night at the theatre.

With so much to enjoy on stage this March, it is the ideal time to plan a break in Oxford and the wider county. Turn a night out into a full getaway with a stay in a city-centre hotel, a characterful guest house, a cosy B&B or one of Oxfordshire’s many self-catering cottages and apartments. Whether you are here for a single show or a long weekend of exploring, you will find plenty of welcoming places to stay while you enjoy everything Oxfordshire has to offer.
